Eurochild Children’s Council

A Talk by Eurochild Children’s Council (Eurochild)

About this Talk

Eurochild is a network of organisations and individuals working with and for children in Europe. Eurochild is striving for a society where all children and young people grow up happy, healthy, confident and respected as individuals in their own right. Eurochild aims to bring about positive changes in the lives of children, in particular those affected by poverty and disadvantage.

Eurochild is reaching its goal by influencing policies, building civil society capacity, facilitating mutual learning and exchanging practice and research. Eurochild is committed to child participation and to actively involve children in different aspects of its work.

Through its long-term commitment to meaningfully involving children in its own work and activities, as well as in decision-making processes at European and national level, Eurochild has become a leader in child participation.

Eurochild’s high child participation and safeguarding standards are evidenced through its recently updated child participation strategy and child protection policy, both of which take a rights-based approach and are guided by the UNCRC. Eurochild’s child participation strategy lays the foundation of how we engage with children, both strengthening existing participation structures such as Eurochild Children’s Council, and envisaging future steps that will embed child participation practices across its work and that of its members.

Four members from Eurochild’s Children’s Council will share their experiences on a range of issues they are passionate about. They will address the importance of being child-friendly for child participation; child participation in safeguarding discussions in schools; the role of child participation in decision-making about online and digital safety; and the importance of engaging children who have experienced trauma in conversations about measures that are essential for them to feel safe and comfortable.

After the presentation, join the representative from Eurochild at the live Q&A sessions that follow shortly after.
