Karimot Odebode

Karimot Odebode is a poet, writer and youth advocate from Ibadan Nigeria.

She is the founder and Project Lead at Black Girl's Dream Initiative, a youth led organization that works to end Female Genital Mutilation; promote Education and Gender Equality through Arts, Technology and Sports.

Karimot is a graduate of Law from Obafemi Awolowo University.

She is an award winning poet who has performed at several high level meetings and conferences.

She uses her poetry to promote the SDGs and create a safe world for girls and women.

She created the Transform Education anthem for the United Nation's Girls Education Initiative (UNGEl), and has been featured by Global Education Summit, Plan International, BBC Media Action, ITU etc.

Karimot was a two time Champion for ONE Campaign where she advocated against inequality.

She was recognized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Oyo State Government as one of the twenty women that #breakthebias in March 2022 and one of the 100 most influential young people with the work she does in advocacy.

She was one of the 45 female African activists from 15 countries that signed the open letter for gender equality which was presented to world leaders by the ONE Campaign in March 2019.

Karimot is a member of the Generation Connect Africa Youth envoy for the International Telecommunications Union. She is currently a Global Citizen X BeyGOOD Fellow.

Karimot is the author of 'a woman has many names', a poetry collection with 107 poems.
